We treat a wide range of liver, gallbladder, and bile duct cancers, ranging from a primary cancer diagnosis such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), and gallbladder cancer to metastatic liver cancer such as colorectal cancer, neuroendocrine cancer, and others.  

Furthermore, we manage and treat a large variety of premalignant and benign liver, gallbladder, and bile duct lesions, such as hepatic adenomas, hepatic cysts, bile duct congenital abnormalities such as choledochal cysts, gallbladder polyps, and traumatic injuries to these structures such as bile duct injuries.

As New Jersey’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center, we offer the latest and most cutting-edge diagnostic and surgical therapies, such as robotic surgery; liver parenchyma sparing techniques; microwave ablation navigation therapy; hepatic arterial infusion pump therapy; liver transplantation for HCC as well as unresectable colorectal liver metastases, perhilar cholangiocarcinoma (Klatskin’s tumor), and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, all delivered throughout the state of New Jersey with care close to home.

Our clinical trial portfolio for each of these disease processes is expansive, bringing the lastest national clinical trials locally to the patients we serve. In addition to serving our patients, the surgical oncologists at Rugters Cancer Institute of New Jersey are dedicated to educating the next generation and future leaders in the field of surgical oncology, housing the only Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program within the state of New Jersey.
